REBOOT : RESTART
REBOOT : RE-START : LIFE 2.0
“In one of his Ted talks in 2015, tech giant Bill Gates had predicted that viruses pose the greatest risk of global catastrophe; when compared to other threats of humanity. If anything kills over 10 million people over the next few decades, it’s most likely to be a highly infectious virus rather than a war or missiles, he warned. His fears were not unfounded. Five years later, Coronavirus or as we say Covid 19, has brought the world to its knees.
The current pandemic has created crises of unprecedented nature for almost everyone on our planet. Businesses have been shut, schools and colleges are closed, travel banned. The whole world is in a complete lockdown. COVID-19 tests our resolve and resilience as government’s and communities, world over. People the world over are getting sick and dying, global economies are facing a recession. COVID-19 has taken a world that, for many people, was safe and secure, and forced us to confront a new world that is ever-changing, unfamiliar, unpredictable, uncertain, uncomfortable, and uncontrollable..
But as they say challenges create opportunities. Covid-19 may have turned our lives upside down but it has certainly provided an opportunity for all of us to rise to the occasion during these testing times. At the heart of the COVID-19 therein lies an incredible opportunity for us to use the current crisis to grow as people.
Below are some of the benchmarks I set for myself during the
“stay-at-home” phase.
· Take care of self and my loved ones – specially my elders as they were at maximum risk due to weak immunity system.
· Before self comes the society – all the youth of our area got together and formed a team which took care of elderly people living alone, street vendors who suddenly lost their livelihood and also stray animals.
· Learnt to interact and network – realizing that sitting al by myself can actually lead me to to self doubt and increase anxiety levels, I took initiative to bond with others. Over the days, I have learned to communicate well with my dear ones and share my feelings.
· Re-connect with your old friends - I well utilized this time to reconnect with all my school friends with whome I had lost connect. Starting from talking 1:1, we eventually created a group and started interacting on zoom video calls, one in a week. Not only it refreshed many nostalgic moments, it also helped my networking skills better.
Love IK.
