Learn a New Language

As an avid traveller and photographer, I always wanted to pick up a second language. Added to this was also a desire to possibly study or work abroad in a country of my own choice one-day. Armed with these facts, I decided to equip myself with a second language during the pandemic stay at home phase.
Moreover, i realize that the advantages of learning foreign languages are mushrooming as the world becomes increasingly globalized and bilingualism is now perhaps the most useful real world skill to ever exist. Being bilingual has multiple advantages in today’s world.
The study of foreign languages teaches and encourages respect for other peoples: it fosters an understanding of the interrelation of language and human nature. Foreign languages expand one's view of the world, liberalize one's experiences, and make one more flexible and tolerant. learning a foreign language can improve your employment prospects.
More companies than ever are doing business globally and HR is always on a lookout for employees who have additional language skills. Apart from this Studying a foreign language makes you more open-minded and also helps you better understand your own language and culture. Travel becomes cheaper and easier when you learn a foreign language as you navigate your way around almost unaided and interact with natives in their mother tongue.
There are plenty of ways in which you can master another language during the pandemic. You can take online courses; watch YouTube videos; immerse yourself in foreign movies, TV shows, and books; or you can have one-on-one lessons with a private tutor via Skype or another platform. You can pick a language that might benefit your job, or you can learn the language of a country you would like to visit once things return to normal.
The language I chose to learn is Hangul, the official language of Korea. What influenced me towards it was my passion for K-pop and K-drama. I found major similarities between Korean/Indian culture, and felt quite attracted to its history, culture, food, music and people. In my opinion the best step for me was to study the country better in their own language. Thus I set the task of finding an online faculty who could teach me online few days in a week and fasten my learning process. Further, I invested in a good English – Korean dictionary by Colins Gem and removed sub titles while watching Korean content online.
So far I have been thoroughly enjoying this and plan to take it further. If all goes well, aim is tun this unfortunate pandemic into something fruitful which will yield results for my years to come.
